Los Fabulosos Cadillacs

I´m fanatic of music. I cannot live without it. All the time I use my MP3 because my music is like the soundtrack of my life.

How I´m 20 years old, in my life I´ve knew many kind of rihythms and artists from many countries, but now I have my favourity band: Los Fabulosos Cadillacs.


Los Fabulosos Cadillacs are an argentinian band mentined in 1985 (when i wasn´t in this planet). This band play many kind of music like Ska, reggae, punk, in others and have an particular style.


Los Fabulosos Cadillacs have a lot of albums and all their productions have importants song like "Matador", "Manuel Santillán, el león" and "Gitana". This songs are fundamental in the Latinamerican music history.


I don´t have a favourite song of LFC - and of other band- because i love many compositions of this band, but if I have to choose one my choice ir "La Vida".

This year, on October 11th, LFC play in Santiago. The concert was great and in that opportunity they announced other event for December 3th. Of course, I will buy the ticket.


Besides I´ve been in another recital of artists like "Los Tres", "Bersuit Bergarabat", "Keane" and others.

An important event for the comunication

The Communication Workers Union (CWU) announced an stoppages at Thursday and Friday. The reasson of this stoppages is that Royal Mail -the company- is asking importants requeriments and its are too quickly for employees.

Royal Mail is now in a modernization process and they are -accordind employees- making unreasonable demands on staff.

This stoppage is the first movilization in UK, but isn´t of others companies of Europe.

This stoppages will generated important consequences like 200 thousand items will not delivered to its destination.

Previously, The CWU offered conversations to Royal Mail for halt this stoppages but Royal Mail said that this stoppages is "appalling and unjustified attack on customers".

Specialist says that this stoppages could cost the company almost £120 in lost revenue, so Lord Mandelson, the business secretary of the UK government, said to CWU that their "message to them has been clear: put your customers first".

Santiago: a strange city

Arround the world there are importants cities like Ney York, Paris, Roma, in others, but, what happend with other cities like Santiago or Lima? Are them popular like this capitals?

I don´t really know.

I really think that Santiago isn´t a touristy city, but if a tourist come to Santiago, there are many places to go.

Santiago is separated in many parts: out of Santiago, Center of Santiago and Range of Santiago. In this parts the turist can watch differents landscapes and practice many activities.

For example, out of Santiago there are many countrysides and other littles cities like Talagante or Calera de Tango. In Center of Santiago there are many old buildings, tradicional places like La Piojera, in others. Finally, in range of Santiago there are ski centers like "El Colorado", places where people can see beautiful landscapes of our capital.

If a tourist doesn´t know anythig about Santiago, he or she must to try to meet many kind of people. I think that the people is an important referent from a city.

My top 5 places in Santiago:

5: Saint Lucy Hill: In center of Santiago there are a big hill: Saint Lucy. This hill is spectacular because inside there are a old building and in the top you can see all Santiago.

4: Saint Cristobal hill: At north of Santiago, near of Saint Lycy hill is Saint Cristobal hill. This part of Santiago is very beautifull and funny because inside of hill there is the zoo. To arrived to this place the tourist can walk for Bellavista street, other touristic place.

3: The Mint: this is the government building. The Mint have many history and was desinsigned by Alexandre Gustav Eiffel.

2: Quinta Normal: other traditional place of Santiago is Quinta Normal. Quinta Normal is a big park -near of Central Station- where people can go to walk and navigate in a like lake. Other important characteristic of Quinta Normal is that inside its borders there are many Museums.

1: Central Station: It is a tradicional building where arrived the train from south. Near of Central Station -where you can arrived in subway- there are many shops and tradicional streets like "Exposición" and "Bascuñán Guerrero". I love this place because there are chilean spirit in the air and is very cheap.

The Simpsons: a classic

My favourite serie is The Simpson.

I remember -when I was 5 or 6 years old- a chilean channel showed The Simpsons but so latter, then of a Tv show called "Video Loco". I waited until midnigth and I saw this program.

I like The Simpsons because their characters are very particular and they represent a piece of society. For example, Homer is stupid and drunk -but a good person-, Marge is clean and bussy and she thinks in her family all the time, Bart is a bad guy, he doesn´t care anythig, Lisa is smart and clean, like her mother and Maggie, Maggie is Maggie.

This family is very abnormal and is surrounder for other characters like Moe, Barny, Flanders, Mr. Burns, Carl y Lenny, in others.

I like this particular serie because all the character complete the comedy, but this isn´t a simple comedy. All the espisode of The Simpsons criticezes the society and their bad habits like the individualism, alcoholims, foolishs, and many others.

I thik that The Simpsons still is on Tv because their creators are good cartoonists, creative persons. The Simpsons have 22 season and I guess that Matt Groening keeps drawing The Simpsons for a long time.

First term: a difficult story

My first term was like a storm. But like people used to be, then out of the storm, always comes the calm.

I arrived to Santiago (because I´m from Iquique) in March and I had not where to live, I did´nt know if any bank will give me a loan for study and I had not money. It was terrible.

I don´t know why but here in university - the unit of comunication- offered me a job, and I got other job in a pub in Ñuñoa Square. Then BCI bank gave me a loat for pay mi career.

However i started this firt term in the university with many problems but with the time, my life went back to normal.

I learned so much in first term. I had six subjects and two works, so my weeks was very busy.

I loved a subject called "Cultural Industries" because we revised many authors of comunication theory like Walter Benjamin, Theodor Adorno, Marshall Berman, in others. This subjects was great because i understand the trajectory of modernity until postmodernity. Other important subject was "Radial Journalism". It was a new way to write news. We leard how broadcast in radio.

How I had many work, i couldn´t practiced sports or any free time activity because I was runing all the time.

This first term was harder than others. In the past I lived with my family, with security, with compañy and with warranties, but now, i live alone but with new knowledges about life.

A strange experience

It is very hard to explain. I enjoyed it but there were moments in which I could not work because I didn´t have much time because we had other works like reporting in streets, or recording a radial report, etc. It is true that we had time to work in the university, but sometimes we wrote our blog in our houses because we didn´t finish our tasks.

Doing an evaluation, the experience like bogger was good for learning english because we could notice our mistakes and use the recomendations of our teacher and we posted to oue classmates, so we met new people from other grades.

Firstly, the advantages were many. For example, we could think about topics that we had forgotten, like why we are in te career, or what kind of journalism we want to practice, or who we admire in our area, etc.

Secondly, the disadvantage of blogging in the English class was the time.


But finally, this was a good experience.

My ideal job

If I have to choose an ideal job, this would be in a media -any kind- where I could travel around the world.

All the people ask me about if the journalism is just traveling around many countries, but this idea is unreal. Just few journalists have the opportunity to make reality this wish.

Well, if luck were with me, I could obtain a god job where I would be able to travel, to report other realities.

I would be good at this job because I`m a responsible person and i will learn other languages, so I will be ideal for traveling.

To find this kind of job is almost imposible, but with time and experience, this dream could be real.
